Materialise has a Huge Presence at RAPID
Materialise showcased their latest software innovations in two exhibit spaces at this year’s RAPID show. The main booth offered demos and information on their latest releases of Magics, Mimics and 3-matic software solutions. The booth space was also decorated with numerous AM components that really highlighted their capabilities including a platform that demonstrated e-Stage’s automatic support generation capabilities that included 3D nesting in stereolithography! The platform also showed the latest advancements in automatic texturing and labeling.
In addition, Materialise showed off the beautiful cardiovascular and orthopaedic medical models that are made possible using the Mimics Innovation Suite. Beginning with scan data, you can import data into Mimics, segment the anatomy, create a 3D Model, prepare the model using 3-matic for hollowing, texturing and other applications and then export the watertight STL file to any AM technology to achieve truly impressive anatomical models.
In addition, Materialise created an additional exhibit area to showcase their NEW Streamics, AM Automation and Control System. The system offers something for everyone whether your role is managing orders, quoting, preparing files, operating the machines, finishing parts, supervising the teams or several of these responsibilities combined. The robust database centralizes data, including linked CAD files, and provides you with a simple overview of ‘won’ and ‘lost’ quotes, real-time status of ongoing orders, who is working on the project, etc. The full integration with Magics brings huge advantages for producing the correct parts in the exact quantities needed. In addition, repetitive tasks can be handled ‘in the background’ without the need for user interaction, allowing you to focus on the files that require manual interventions.
Another exciting feature in Streamics is the build planning component. No matter how you receive files (emails, FTP, discs, etc.), they can easily be integrated into the planning system where you can view the machine availability and begin to set-up builds for the parts that require the same technology, materials and timing. Managers love the new system for the reporting capabilities which can be completely customized to your information needs.
This exciting enhancement to the world of additive manufacturing came alive as attendees went from station to station with a Materialise Process Engineer and saw the benefits for every member of their organization. The work stations included managing orders and quotes, preparing files, planning and operating the machines, finishing parts, and a managerial component showing the traceability and reporting capabilities.
But, no one will forget the 3D FABulous Fashion Show! There were over forty, 3D printed pieces created by famous designers such as Brussels’ master milliner Elvis Pompilio, necklaces by Daniel Widrig and a collection of stunning pieces by Niccolò Casas that redefine how accessories can be worn. In addition, the 20 top designs from Materialise’s ‘Hat’s Off to 3D Printing Challenge’ and the RAPID design contest were shown. It truly put the HOT back in Hotlanta!
