Exhibition Set to Open on April 24th at BOZAR Center for Fine Arts, Brussels
LEUVEN, Belgium, Feb. 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- From April 24th until June 7th, 2015, the BOZAR Center for Fine Arts will present an exhibition called MAKING A DIFFERENCE / A DIFFERENCE IN MAKING, which will explain the added value of 3D Printing by showing the benefits this technology brings to the lives of individuals, our society and the environment. This exhibition is curated by Marta Malé-Alemany, architect & recognized researcher in the field of digital fabrication technologies, and produced by Materialise NV(Nasdaq:MTLS), a 3D printing pioneer based in Belgium. Coinciding with Materialise's 25th anniversary, this exhibition also helps illustrate how the company has shaped a leading position within the industry, following a mission statement of working for a "better and healthier world."
About the Exhibition
Decades after its invention, by now it is clear that 3D Printing is a manufacturing technology that can change and revolutionize the way we can make almost anything. Experts estimate that it will be a key technology in this century, enabling industrial developments that were impossible before. In fact, many products in our daily life are already prototyped or manufactured using 3D Printing. Given its expected future role, it is critical to examine how it can affect our environment, shape our society and change individual lives.
Curator Marta Malé-Alemany and Materialise come together to present MAKING A DIFFERENCE / A DIFFERENCE IN MAKING, an exhibition that looks at 3D Printing with both the eyes of fascination - inviting viewers to discover a production process that allows us to make things differently - and through a deeper observation - to ponder how it can help individuals, enable social changes and positively contribute to the environment. In other words, how 3D Printing is making a difference.

About the Curator
Marta Malé-Alemany is an architect, researcher and curator specialized in design and fabrication technologies. She has curated 3D printing exhibitions and organized specific cultural programs concerning design and making. With over 17 years of experience teaching architecture in renowned universities and schools in the U.S. and Europe, she has founded and directed several master and post-graduate programs, and has been appointed as an external reviewer for numerous institutions. Marta's work, in both academic and professional domains, follows a research-driven integrated methodology involving digital design and manufacturing. Her academic work pursues novel material solutions and building methods using natural materials, DIY devices and industrial robotic equipment. In practice she uses digital fabrication technologies for interior design, large-scale installations and architectural applications. Marta holds a professional architecture diploma, a Master's Degree in Advanced Architectural Design, and is a PhD candidate. Her thesis investigates large-scale 3D Printing to innovate industrial design and building construction.
