Mission accomplished for Materialise at AAOS 2012

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Materialise recently exhibited at the 2012 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) in San Francisco, CA. With over 30,000 health professionals in attendance, Materialise shared their technology with orthopaedic surgeons from all over the world as they sought opportunities for continuing medical education, networked with their peers, and discovered a variety of technical exhibits

Representing Materialise at the 2012 AAOS annual meeting were team members from Belgium and the United States. The team’s main objective for this annual event was to enhance relationships with existing customers as well as identifying new ones, a goal which they accomplished.

A wide range of attendees stopped by the Materialise booth to learn more about the buzz that’s being created by SurgiCase Orthopaedics, a cutting-edge technology solution for complex elective osteotomies. Participants stopping by to learn more included surgeons, exhibitors, and engineering professionals and interest was great. As usual, this meeting had an international flair to it with participants coming from throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

A big theme at this year’s meeting was Materialise’s personalized engineering services. At the Materialise booth, surgeons were pleased to discover that a main component of the SurgiCase offering is the opportunity to work with their own personal clinical engineer on a given case. Several surgeons experienced this first hand as they worked one-on-one with a clinical engineer at the booth to solidify and even finalize a surgical plan for an upcoming case. In the weeks following the 2012 AAOS annual meeting, this led to the successful outcome of two cases in particular: One case involving a complex diaphyseal radius malunion correction and another involving a Madelung’s deformity correction performed on a small child.
